Health- down the drain and out
This is day "who knows what" of my headache and stiff neck and blindness issues with the sinus swelling behind my eyes and this is doing wonders for my roiling stomach and other issues and I know that if I could only take something for the pain and swelling, maybe even an oral antibiotic, I would be feeling better swiftly... but I can't.
On that line of thought, I want to remind my readers to please remember to vote on my my entry in the Reader's Digest contest on Facebook... I am still in the top 20 out of thousands of submissions. You can vote daily on my submission, please do...
If I win it will be a major boost for Gastroparesis Awareness as well as other Digestive Tract Paralysis Conditions Worldwide... something that is desperately needed and currently lacking.
Why would it boost awareness?
Because a short story of my life would be published in Reader's Digest... and as those who have been following my blog, my life is dominated by my Gastroparesis which makes treating all of my other conditions almost impossible due to my inability to tolerate pills (they sit in my stomach too long and cause damage and gastrointestinal bleeding in me) and allergy to artificial sweeteners (which is used in all liquid medications and dissolving sub-lingual medications). In order for my other conditions to be treated there has to be a way to treat my Gastroparesis... and there is nothing available for me.
It is not all about me, though... I am not alone in struggling to find a treatment that I can use or one that works and could share story after story of friends who are struggling to survive until there are better treatment options and a cure... but for that to every happen the public has to be aware of the conditions.
How would it boost awareness?
Reader's Digest is one of the most read publications in the World and an article there would reach people that think they are suffering alone, that Gastroparesis and other Digestive Tract Paralysis Conditions are rare and they must suffer alone. It would help them find others that understand them, opening a world that has been shut to them.
It would bring the name of the conditions to the public eye... people would start talking... "have you heard of this?"... "it is not rare yet I have never heard of it and I am outraged!!!"... people will be asking their Politicians why more is not being done... they will be asking their Doctors more about it and as a result their Doctors will have to learn about the conditions so that they can give informed answers. This will mean that people will be diagnosed earlier and start changing their diets and getting treatment earlier with better outcomes.
This one small article could start a wave of awareness that could change the world for millions without hope... so please help by voting and passing on the link to friends and asking them to vote as well.
