Mood- hesitant
Health- blatant
Well, I have that big (was supposed to be little) project done so I have decided to do today's post early so I can send it out into the world.
I hear (and see people write) all the time "My Doctor just does not know anything about Gastroparesis and ignores what I am going through".
This is actually a very big issue, because the average Doctor only gets about 10 minutes of lecture about Gastroparesis if that and it is soon forgotten. Even those that specialize in the Gastroenterology field might not get much more than that.
We can try to tell them ourselves, but they are conditioned to ignore what a patient says as here-say and if we give them a website to check out they will kindly write it down and swear they will "look at it later", but chances are they are too busy to search the internet about the health concerns of a single patient when they have so many patients with so many different conditions. Let us not forget that they also have a life of their own to live outside of the office...
I brainstormed on how to meet our needs when it comes to have better informed Doctors and at the same time give them the information from reliable sources (well documented sources) and I thought "well, what if we printed off those web pages that give the most inclusive information from the highest sources and put them in a folder for them?"
So, I copied the best information from the web that I know of (with full credits included, not only to give credit where credit is due but so that they can look and compare it to be sure that it is the actual information and not paraphrasing) and put it all together in a single PDF file that you can copy for yourself and print for your Doctor.
I would suggest if you do print it that you take the extra steps of hole punching it and putting it in a nice binder for them and not just hand it to them stapled together. For one thing, it is over 80 pages long and for another thing, a bound copy would be easier for them to keep on hand for reference.
It can be found at https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&pid=explorer&chrome=true&srcid=0B2Hid5h_TgmRYWIyYjg5MmEtMDgxZi00ZDRlLTkyY2MtOGNlY2UzMWQwMWYz&hl=en_US
One note- the websites that are copied (with full credit given) are the property of the creators and as such you CANNOT print off a bunch of copies and try to sell them!!!
